Travel down the lane from where we stay and you will find that there lives a man who sports nothing but cowboy boots but possesses a deep reverence for his pet cats and enjoys a good dance with these gentle animals.

A “cat enthusiast” is how we prefer to refer to Mr Delaney. It’s less demeaning-sounding than “crazy cat man” and less cringe-inducing than his preferred moniker “Catboy”. Calling him crazy simply would not be fitting, as he is sound of mind by-and-large and, similarly, omitting any mention of cats would be equally disrespectful, as his adoration of felines is unwavering.

To this day, whenever a person in his company should utter any cat-related expressions, such as “puss in boots”, Mr Delaney bursts spontaneously into dance, opting each time for a shoulder-heavy bounce characterised by winding neck movements and brisk arm strokes. Mr Delaney grooves exclusively to an internal clock tempo of around one-hundred-and-forty beats per minute.

We could all learn a thing or two from Del “Boots’n’Cats” Delaney.
